The Robinson Fire Academy is a six-month hybrid certification program designed for volunteer firefighters. It combines flexible online coursework with essential in-person skills training. Cadets follow a recommended schedule to complete online lessons, providing foundational knowledge for each stage of development. In-person skills training sessions are held one weekend per month, allowing cadets to apply their knowledge under the guidance of experienced instructors. Upon successful completion and passing the required State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas (SFFMA) exams, cadets earn certifications in SFFMA Firefighter I, Firefighter II, and Hazmat Awareness and Operations. These certifications demonstrate that the firefighter has met the standards set by the SFFMA. Additionally, cadets who complete the program and obtain their SFFMA certifications will be eligible to challenge the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certification exam, which may lead to broader career opportunities in the fire service.
